Molly McLaughlin

Biography
Lab positions: Graduate research assistant (Summer 2026 – Present); Undergraduate researcher (Summer 2025 – Spring 2026)
- Molly joined Toor lab Summer 2025 as a 4th year undergraduate out of interest into getting into research via a machine automation project. Her current work involves metamaterial design in quantum computing applications.
- Honors and Awards: Molly was inducted into UI’s Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society chapter Spring 2024, and graduated her undergradate with university honors and honors in engineering.
- Education: Molly has received her BSE in electrical engineering from the University of Iowa Spring 2026. She is currently pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering as part of the U2PhD program, with Professor Toor as her advisor.
- Extracurriculars/ and Hobbies: She likes to keep a balance of activities, like walking, (beginner) ballroom dancing, gaming, knitting, and language learning. She always likes collecting little tidbits though, (feel free to ask for facts and folklore of Iowa City, as she’s a proud local).
