Biography

Lab Position: Undergraduate Researcher (Fall 2020- Spring 2022)

​Jacob is an electrical and computer engineering undergraduate student at the University of Iowa. He developed 3D printed light trapping coatings for solar cells during Fall 2020. Starting Spring 2021 he is conducting calibration testing of next generation gas sensors that utilize mid-infrared LEDs and photodetectors, in collaboration with researchers at the Toor Lab, Prof. Jun Wang's lab, EHSRC at UI, and Firefly Photonics LLC. 

Past experience: Member of the electronics team for Iowa Formula One that develops the software and hardware for the electric race car.

Honors and awards: One of three student researchers from the College of Engineering featured in the 2022 Dare to Discover Campaign by UI OVPR, College of Engineering Grand Challenges Scholar, honors student at the University of Iowa based on academic performance, Deans list at University of Iowa (Fall 2019), Eagle Scout (2017)
